Bernadette Tuazon is an award-winning photo editor and director of photography for CNN Digital, where she leads photo coverage of breaking news, features, long-term special projects and special events. Tuazon manages a team of photo editors spread across Atlanta, New York, Washington, D.C., London, and Hong Kong.

Her team is a two-time winner of the coveted POYi Angus McDougal Overall Excellence in Editing Award, the first for a non-print news publication. The team also won the 2020 Visa d’or Daily Press award for a story on sexual assault, another first for CNN Digital.  These awards are among other recognitions from industry institutions like NPPA, the Webby Awards, Headliner and Deadline Awards.

Tuazon resides in New York with her husband, two daughters, and a 105-lb Goldendoodle named Charlie.  And she is obsessed about cooking any dish from anywhere in the world, and notoriously researches and plans Thanksgiving dinner menu in the spring. However, she is less obsessed about running as a form of exercise but knows she needs to, so on Sundays, you’ll catch her somewhere in Central Park.

Journalism is vital in a democracy and I firmly believe in the power of photography to tell a story and help shape public opinion. As a picture editor, I am a conduit between history and the people who consume the news.
